ISPM (INTERNATIONAL STANDARTS
FOR PHYTOSANITARY MEASURES),
The standard which is agreed by IPPC (International Plant Protection
Convention) our country is also a member of General Council's
on 2002 , using international trade wood package materials.
ISPM15 is agreed to assure that no hazardous or larvas exist
in wood package. This standard consists the process to avoid
, carrying Wood Material local and International circulation
carrying and spreading harmfull organism and
According to this, the wood material's having certain standards
and to be able to show having these standards import and export
cargos should be marked by the authorized corporations. Otherwise
importation and exportation of these materials will be forbidden.
According to the ISPM 15 standard what ever the export material
is, every kind of processed package material (pallete , chest
, strongbox , chock etc. except thickness at least 6mm) (heat
treatment or methyl bromide fumigation) and has to be marked.
The signing with Heat Treatment or Methyl Bromide fumigation
can only be done by authorized companies. But according to application
all the shipment is on the Exporter company. ISPM 15 Standard
treatment is applied in 2 different forms.
1. HEAT TREATMENT(HT)
2. FUMIGATION (MB)
HEAT TREATMENT(HT)
Keep waiting at least 30 minutes to increase inner heat of wood
to minimum 56 C°
FUMIGATION (MB)
16 hours fumigation using Methyl Bromide
General preference of Heating Technique, because doesn't contain
chemical materials.
Both methods can be used separately or together. Every wood
package supplier and the ones using this have to prove that
the woods are completely guaranteed and appropriate to ISPM
15. Not appropriate wood package used goods will be rejected
by the receiver member countries. In many member countries the
date of passing to this standard is determined as 2005 January.
